Caring for someone you love can be deeply meaningful—and deeply demanding. Whether you are caring for an aging parent, a partner, a family member, or someone facing a serious health challenge, caregiving can bring a complicated mix of love, responsibility, worry, grief, and exhaustion. There may be little space to consider what all of this is asking of you while you are focused on what someone else needs.
Caregiving can also change your relationships, your sense of independence, your routines, and your understanding of who you are. You may find yourself navigating difficult decisions, shifting family roles, or the uncertainty of not knowing what comes next. Sometimes there is grief woven into caregiving long before an actual loss—a recognition that life, or a relationship, may no longer be what it once was.
Therapy offers a space where you do not have to be the one holding everything together. Together, we can make room for the emotional weight of caregiving, explore boundaries and changing relationships, and consider how to care for yourself while continuing to care for someone you love. My approach is holistic, recognizing the ways caregiving can affect your emotional well-being, physical health, relationships, and sense of self.
