The moment of change is the only poem.

Peri & Menopause

“I just don’t feel like myself.”

Does this sound familiar? For many women, these words emerge during perimenopause and menopause—a time when changes in the body can leave you wondering what happened to the person you recognize.

Changes in hormones can affect sleep, energy, mood, concentration, sexuality, and a sense of emotional steadiness. You may find yourself responding to life differently than you once did, or wondering why things that used to feel manageable suddenly feel harder. Sometimes it can be difficult to know what is part of this transition, what belongs to the circumstances of your life, and what may be asking for deeper attention.

This season can also bring an unexpected invitation to reconnect with yourself. As your body and needs change, you may find yourself reconsidering old expectations, relationships, roles, or ways of caring for others. Therapy offers a place to slow down and listen to what is emerging—to make sense of your experience, honor what your body and mind are communicating, and explore what you need in this next chapter.

Our work can include making room for the emotional experience of hormonal change, navigating shifts in identity and relationships, and finding ways to care for yourself with greater intention. I offer a holistic bio-psycho-social perspective that recognizes the connection between emotional well-being, physical health, relationships, and the larger context of your life, while respecting the important role of medical care and collaboration with your healthcare providers.
